The Alchemy of Masculinity
The Alchemy of Masculinity explores the journey of masculine initiation through shadow integration, sexual energy mastery, emotional resilience, and spiritual growth.
After more than 15 years of struggle with pornography addiction, disconnection, and self-abandonment, I entered a path of deep inner work that transformed my relationship with masculinity, intimacy, purpose, and personal power. What emerged was not perfection, but a return to authenticity, embodiment, and truth.
Through raw conversations, personal stories, collaborations, and practical insights, we explore masculine embodiment, sexual energy, emotional regulation, shadow work, intimacy, rites of passage, esotericism, archetypal meanings, spirituality, and the challenges facing modern men.
This podcast is for men who know they are capable of more. Men who are ready to stop performing, reclaim their power, integrate their shadow, and forge a life of purpose, integrity, and authentic masculine presence.
Welcome to the Fire, brother.

Healing the Father Wound: How Men Develop Confidence, Purpose & Inner Authority
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Many men struggle with confidence, purpose, discipline, and personal authority without realizing these challenges may be connected to the father wound. The absence of guidance, emotional support, or healthy masculine initiation can shape how a man relates to responsibility, boundaries, and his own power.
In this episode of The Alchemy of Masculinity, I continue exploring the father wound through the archetypes of Saturn (Kronos), Kali Ma, and Shiva. We explore masculine initiation, ego death, inner authority, and the psychological transformation required to move from boyhood conditioning into mature masculinity.
You’ll learn how men can stop seeking external validation, heal the wounded inner child, and develop the discipline, responsibility, and inner leadership needed to become their own source of authority.
In this episode:
- The father wound and masculine development
- Confidence, purpose, and self-leadership
- Saturn, Kronos, and masculine initiation
- Healing boyhood conditioning and the inner child
- Discipline, responsibility, and inner authority
- Kali Ma, ego death, and transformation
- Shiva, Shakti, and masculine-feminine integration
- Grief, maturation, and psychological growth
- Individuation and discovering personal truth
The journey into mature masculinity is not about becoming harder. It is about developing the inner authority to face life honestly, release what no longer serves you, and become the man you were meant to be.

Saturn and Father Wound What do Saturn, Kali Ma, Shiva, death, initiation, transformation, and the father wound have in common? This episode right here. Hi, everyone. Welcome to another episode of the Alchemy of Masculinity podcast. I'm your host, Ioannis Kokkinos. Thank you for being here today. So in today's episode, I'm going to keep unpacking the father wound. I'm going to bring in a few archetypes into the conversation, symbols, deities, because archetypes do help us unpack our inner potentials as far as our psyche is concerned. So Saturn is a part of the astrological tradition named after the Roman god Saturn, which came from the ancient Greek god Chronos. So as far as Saturn is concerned, I will be talking about his characteristics from the astrological perspective because the energy of Saturn is very much not easy to work with. I'm also gonna be talking about Kronos, because this is where Saturn came from. The inspiration of Saturn came from the ancient Greek Kronos. And I'm going to make connections to the Hindu tantric deities of Kali Ma and Shiva because they do share some commonalities. And everything does point back to the father wound and what I was talking about last week. Saturn as Authority So let's start with Saturn. Saturn from the astrological tradition. You don't have to believe in astrology, or you don't have to like astrology to appreciate the archetypal meaning of Saturn and its energy because Saturn as an archetype and as an energy represents authority. So we all have an inner authority figure, right? When we are talking about the psyche, we have many aspects of our psyche. As far as Jungian psychology is concerned, these are called archetypes. So one archetype we all have is the authority, and the authority figure can feel punitive in its more negative connotation, or it can feel strengthening in its more positive connotation. So the energy of Saturn, the planet Saturn, is associated with boundaries, constraints, restrictions, limitations. Fun words, right? But it's also about initiating us into maturation and development and adulthood. Kronos and Time And this is where Kronos comes in. Kronos is associated with, probably, one of the most important and significant father wound stories in our generation, all generations in the collective, in the collective unconscious. Because Kronos, which translates to time, was the all-father before Zeus took him down. Kronos was the all-father who wanted to stay in rulership and devoured all of his children. More often than not, Kronos is depicted as the villain, as the bad guy, right? Because he's eating his children. But what if I told you today that actually Kronos can also be the good guy? That from the psychological perspective or the psychic perspective, the fact that Kronos, aka time, is eating children, is eating the innocent, is eating the youth, only depicts the reality of our human existence which is time that ages everything and everyone, and this is how eventually death comes for everything. This is very symbolic, right? These deities are aspects of the human psyche and the human condition. They are also elemental forces, according to the ancient Greeks. Because this is a deity that has to do with time, We all know that time is something we can't have more of, and time is always coming for us. This is directly linked to aging, right? So as we age, we can say that time, quote-unquote, devours our youth our youth, devours our innocence. So Kronos, aka time devouring his children, represents time coming for the youth in order to mature, in order to grow. And that is why Zeus was spared. The energy of Zeus, which I talked about in the Jupiter in Leo episode, because there's a lot of symbolism as far as Zeus is concerned. Overthrowing the Inner Father The fact that Zeus was spared and overthrew Kronos is significant because this represents the initiation, the challenge, and the growth that Zeus underwent because of this presence of Kronos, this presence of time, in order to overthrow the father because inside each and every man's psyche is a boy that needs to reclaim his power from the father. Because as I said last week, we have to become the father. And in order to become the father, we have to overthrow the father of our own psyche. Because this father figure is the authority figure, the authority energy that we dealt with as boys. And depending on the situations, depending on the magnitude of the wound, that authority figure has the potential to rule man's psyche for the rest of his life if he does not actually undergo the initiation, death, and rebirth process that Kronos asks of us to do. It is challenging. It is grueling. It is tough. But it's the adversity we need in order to surpass ourselves. And this doesn't actually have to do really with our literal father, because this is very much generational. This is very much collective, right? This is one story, one myth of many myths of the all-terrible father wanting to hurt his children. We also have modern-day religions where the father is depicted as very stern and punitive if we don't obey and follow certain protocols and doctrines. We have the absent father that is very, very generationally present because work became a lot more demanding. He had to be the bread maker. He had to be away from home in order to support his family. And so this exists within our psyche. Death of the Boy So as far as time is concerned, Kronos, we can't stop time, there's no stopping aging. There's no stopping growing up. But there does need to be a necessary death of sorts within the psyche, and that death has to happen from the boy's perspective, because in order for boy to become man, man must be able to hold space for death of the boy. And again, this is not the death of the boy itself, because we do need to remain connected to our inner child, no matter what gender we are. This is about the death of the programming, the death of the conditioning of the boy, and that conditioning goes hand in hand with the boy that was either afraid or scared of an authority figure, which is the father archetype, or had a authority figure that was missing or absent from the boy's life and psyche. So at some point, in order to truly integrate masculinity and manhood within ourselves and our psyches, we have to come into acceptance of death. The masculine polarity is the polarity of death, and this myth of Kronos devouring the children very much proves that. Now here's the kicker. The only reason I believe Saturn became a masculine archetype is because in Greek, chronos is masculine, o chronos, and from there came Kronos. But from the astrological tradition, the planet Saturn is also associated with the material experience, matter. Matter is mater, and mater in Latin is mother. And we know that Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, and Capricorn is a feminine energy because it's associated with the element of earth. Kali Ma and Shiva So this is where I want to bring Kali Ma into the conversation, who is a feminine archetype. Different from Saturn's energy, but they are both considered devourers. They are both considered devourers through time and space. Because Kali Ma destroys in the name of illusion. Kali Ma is the Shakti that exists within our bodies. So there are different manifestations of Shakti, which is life force as far as the Hindu definition is concerned. But Kali is the destroyer. She is the divine dance that destroys the ego, which Saturn also does, which Kronos also does. And then Kali's consort is Shiva, the divine masculine. The divine masculine she's meant to reunite with as we raise the Shakti up our spine and through our chakras. Once Shakti and Shiva unite up here in the crown chakra, Shiva becomes the world dancer, which translates to Nirvana, which translates to heaven. But heaven is to be anchored onto Earth because we are human beings, and our mission in life, our purpose in life, is to realize heaven in this physical body and through this physical condition, and to manifest heaven on Earth. Saturn the Gatekeeper And that directly connects to Saturn, the energy of Saturn as far as astrology is concerned, because, yes, it's limitations, yes, it's restrictions, yes, it's initiation, but once we move through that labor, once we move through the challenges of Saturn, we do manifest heaven on Earth. Saturn is known as the gatekeeper. Saturn holds the key to the gate. And which gate is that? The gate of heaven or the gate of Nirvana. so as far as the father wound is concerned, there is no evading this psychic death. There is no evading time. There is no avoiding aging and growing up. But we're supposed to age and grow up and become more wise, become more mature. It is about moving through grief and letting go because it does hurt to grow up. It does hurt to let go. But these are part of the growing pains, which is associated with time, Saturn, Kronos. Growing pains, the pains of challenge, the pains of adversity. Resistance Builds Men It's much more easy for boys to run away from adversity. It's much more easy for boys to run away from challenge. Depending on how we grew up and our caretakers, most of the time challenges and resistances were taken care of by our elders. But that cannot remain as is within the psyche of man. Because in order for boy to truly become man is to move through the initiation and is to meet the resistance that does come from life and challenges and situations and scenarios, to meet the resistance and to grow through the resistance. Think about when you're physically training at the gym, right? No matter how painful, no matter how uncomfortable. We call it resistance training for a reason, because it's resistance training that allows the muscles to grow. We have to keep increasing the loads when we are weightlifting, we cannot keep lifting 10 or 15 pounds forever. That 10, 15 pounds is eventually gonna get easier, so we need to go to 20 pounds. We need to eventually go to 25 pounds because that is how we're going to keep growing and conditioning the muscle. This is the same with life, and this is a part of the masculine polarity. Becoming Your Own Father So when we are dealing with the father wound and we have this inner authority energy, this inner father figure that once upon a time had power over the boy, it's not the boy that's going to overthrow the father. It's the inner boy that the current man is gonna show up for, not to kill, not to devour, but to hold space for, to let that boy feel and emote and express what that boy could not feel and emote and express and that is how the letting go happens. That is how we move through the initiation, and that is how the inner father gets overthrown within man's psyche, and then boy becomes man, and man becomes father. So when we bring Kronos, Saturn, Kali Ma, and Shiva into the conversation, it's really all about death of the conditioning, death of the programming. Because that boy drew conclusions, that boy had thoughts and feelings, that boy had all kinds of programs piled on top of him, and he forgot his truth or he didn't know his truth. And that is the point of the initiation. That is the point of any initiation, is to discover and realize truth, personal truth. Doesn't mean that our caretakers didn't love us or didn't want the best for us. But at the end of the day, it's our responsibility, which is a very Saturnian word, responsibility, to discover our personal truth without having anybody from the outside telling us otherwise. So there has to be a certain death that we need to move through. And a lot of men are suffering, I believe, still from the father wound because they have not realized that all they need to do to overthrow, quote-unquote, "the father," which is still ruling their psyches, is to show up for their inner boy in order to become the father in that manner. Because when you become the father, that is when you overthrow the father. That is how Zeus overthrows Kronos. We are all meant to feel empowered in some way, shape, or form. We're all meant to feel like we are good in our skin and that we are strong and powerful, especially as men. This is what we want to feel. We want to feel vital and motivated and purposeful. Limits, Approval, and Guilt But nobody else can have the reins within our psyches because maybe your father had a certain limit as far as finances are concerned, a certain limit as far as how deep you can go emotionally. We are raised in these households. We are raised as children, and limits are imposed upon us, and limits serve us, right? We do need limits. It's not about being and feeling limitless. But these limits have to come from us at some point. And let's say you had a father that was very limiting and very restricting, that is something that your inner boy carries. And at some point, you wanna feel like a man in your own skin, and you wanna go further than those limits that were imposed upon you. So that is your every right to want to be able to surpass those limits and impose your own limits and boundaries upon yourself, because we still need limits, we still need boundaries, no matter how much we grow and expand, because the limits and the boundaries is how we know how much we can hold. A lot of men are still seeking approval from their fathers, but that's not the man. That's the inner boy that is still seeking approval. A lot of men feel guilty about their relationship with themselves and their own fathers. That's not the man. That's the inner boy. So the more the current present man can show up to his inner boy, the less the inner boy will feel these things towards the literal father, because this is how you start to become your own father. And I know there's so many different situations out there. I can't speak for every man, father, you know, son relationship, but as I said in last week's episode, a lot of fathers are suffering because of their relationship with their father. So they didn't get what they needed when they were boys, and they can only ever teach and pass on what they know, right? Even though there may have been absence, even though there may have been anger, even though there may have been passivity, even though there may have been even abuse, violence, even though the relationship could have been so much more, it doesn't mean there wasn't love from the father towards the son. It's just that we can only work with what we know. Integration and Individuation So just to bring this all home, whether you're working with Saturn or Kronos or Kali Ma or Shiva, all these deities, and there are more deities, there's just an interesting connection between these four archetypes because of the death to the programming, death to the child programming that allows for transformation and maturation to occur. Also the necessary boundaries we need in order to develop psychic autonomy. And the manifestation of heaven on earth because the idea is to be happy. The idea is to be joyful. The idea is to be creative and motivated and vital and aligned with our purpose. We can only ever truly manifest and create in our lifetime when we are, I believe, fully aligned with our truth and purpose, and that is how Saturn, Kronos, Kalima, and Shiva serve us. It's death to the boy's programming. It's the man showing up for that inner boy in order to become its father, in order to father that inner boy. And that is how the inner authority father figure gets overthrown within the psyche. That is how you come into your power. That is how you feel powerful as a man. That is how you become your own man. Because a lot of men think they need to become men by becoming carbon copies of their own father. But every single man, every single person is here to individuate in this lifetime, which speaks to finding your purpose, finding your truth, and then participating in that purpose and truth with the collective and with those around you.
